Contrary to popular belief, The Philosopher’s Stone, as the name of this bookshop, has existed in the minds of its proprietors since the inception of the idea in the early Eighties (long before Ms. Rowling put pen to paper). After years of teaching and doing library and archive work, we finally opened our store in Covington, LA (north of New Orleans) in January of 2005. After three years as a “brick and mortar”, all the while struggling against the devastating economic effects of Katrina upon our region, we are now 100% online. This new venue allows us to focus upon our strengths. As a scholar and teacher, Jerry is an expert in the fields of history, philosophy, religion, mythology, and the rebirth of the earth centered, non-traditional religions that are the fastest growing spiritual movement in America today. As a lifelong “bookman”, he has been described by one customer as “unfortunately for his business, he knows what his books are worth”. Elsbeth brings her incredible visions and phenomenal talent to life in her wonderful art dolls, paintings, and altered books.
